Bob Ellenton has been working under the company name of Slightly Bent Metalworks for over twenty years. From his workshop in Vancouver he creates custom window bars, railings, gates, furniture and fixtures. His tables, beds, coat racks and other furnishings are sold in galleries and shops both in Canada and the United States. He is known for his distinctive style of playful curves and the use of colourful glass balls – often with a nod to Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts movements. Whimsical or rectilinear, modern or traditional, Bob works with his residential and commercial clients to create forms that reflect their tastes and surroundings and his own design sensibility. Bob’s commercial clients include The Portland Hotel Society, Eastside Family Place, The Cultch, Mortal Coil, Dr. Vigari Gallery, Kokopelli, Subeez Cafe, Wazubee, Fets, Dan’s Home Brewing, Circling Dawn Organic Foods, The Compassion Club, EJM Construction, Readerware, City of Port Coquitlam, Fraser Dental Group, Storm Brewing, Central City Brewing, Steamworks, Bridge Brewery and Molson’s. Bob’s work has been featured in these publications: Eat.Shop.Vancouver, The Vancouver Courier, BC Home, Seattle Magazine, Vancouver Magazine, The Georgia Straight, The Vancouver Sun and the Seattle Times.
